Menus and buttons make up a large part of the game. The purpose of some can be initially confusing.


Block selector[]


The large middle box shows the object you currently have selected to build with. Underneath this is the price of that object.

Clicking either on this or on the top right button will take you to the full grid of items; this is where you can select the tile you want to use from the multiple pages of objects.

The up and down arrows are a quick way to scroll through previously used tiles without having to choose from the entire grid each time.

Left of these is a small icon with a box and arrow; this is the block picker indicator. Holding CTRL and clicking on an object already in your home will automatically select it in the block picker.



The "Backpack" button on the lower right will take you to a screen where you can see your vault's and backpack's tool contents.

In the upper right you will notice another selector, this time for tools. You can select the tool you want from a grid or using the up and down arrows in the same way as with blocks, although you can not CTRL click with tools already in your vault.

The "Done" button will exit back into your house.

On the right there is also a button to toggle between sell mode and buy mode.


The "<-$" button will purchase the selected tool and puts it straight into your backpack; the "Undo" button can reverse the buying of tools. Clicking on a stack of tools will move one from the backpack to vault or vise versa. You have the option to toggle on "Move Half" which will let you move half of the stack at once.


The "<-$" button is no longer visible. Clicking on a tool will sell one at a time and the "Undo" button can also undo this. The "Move Half" button is now a "Sell Half" button, toggling this on will allow you to sell half the stack at a time.




Any paintings you own are displayed on the left side of the screen; the first three in the gallery and the rest in the archive.

Clicking on a painting will make it move one place upwards and push the one above it one place down. This can be used to reorder your paintings and move some from the archive to the gallery.

The order of paintings in the gallery is saved, but the order of the archive is not. All of the archive paintings can be scrolled through one at a time using the up and down arrows to the left of it. (This is true in self test and robberies also)


The button below the archive will open up the auction screen. This is where you can buy paintings. You can not sell paintings.


The timer at the bottom counts down to when the prices will drop, you can then press the refresh button that appears to get a new list of lowered prices.

Clicking on a painting and pressing the "Buy" button will purchase the painting and place it into your gallery.

The arrows on the right let you scroll the pages. More expensive paintings are at the bottom and cheaper ones are at the top.

"Done" will take you back to your house screen.



The undo button will undo the last block placement you made and put you back where you were before you made that placement. It can undo any number of changes since you started building, but not if the changes have already been confirmed with a self test.


The done button will exit your house onto the house list if you have not made any changes since the last self test. Otherwise, it will put you into a self test in order for you to prove your house is fair.




On the right side of your screen when in robbing mode (but not during a self test) you will see all of the tools that are in your backpack.

To use a tool, click on the icon in your backpack and then click on the highlighted tile that you want to use the tool on. If no squares are highlighted then there is nothing within range to use the tool on. You can click the tool again to cancel to use, or just make a move without using it and it will automatically be unselected.

Tools will be lost when you exit a person's house, and will return to your vault if they are left in your backpack while you are inactive for more than 5 minutes.



Committing suicide first requires you to click the small confirmation tickbox, and then the larger "Suicide" button. This kills your character so you can start from scratch. Clicking the larger button before the tickbox will not commit suicide; this was added to prevent accidental clickings of the button.

Safe movement[]


Safe movement is a toggle which makes it require two buttons to move. You must first press the direction you want to go, and then confirm the movement by pressing enter. Before you press enter you can change the direction you want to go, which is displayed with an arrow, without actually moving.

This option is used when navigating areas where a single wrong move could kill you.



This is a simple toggle to turn on and off the robbery music.

House List[]



The main component of this screen is the large list of people's houses. Next to the player's name, left to right, is the amount of money in their vault (including tools but not paintings), the number of attempts of their house there have been (even people who entered and left immediately) and the number of deaths there have been in their house. Hovering over the house will give this information below in words.

The number of attempts and number of deaths both reset to 0 every time the house is changed, so they are only for the current version of the house.

Any displayed as gray (light or dark) are robbable. You can click on them and select "Rob House" to begin the burglary. Houses with a purple background have chill in them, you cannot rob these.

There are pages of houses with the most expensive at the top, the arrows at the right let you scroll through these pages.


At the top of the page there is a search bar.


You can type in any name and click "Filter" to search the entire house list by name.



You can click on a house and press the "Ignore" button to temporarily remove it from your house list. The house will reappear when changes are made to is or you press the "Un-Ignore all" button.



The "Return to Your House" button will take you back to your house in build mode. If changes have been made you will need to complete another self test, otherwise you can click done to go straight back to the house list.

"View Your Security Tapes" takes you to a similar screen where you can view other player's attempts at your home.

Security Tapes[]



Each tape is an attempt to rob your house. The entries show the name of the robber on the tape, how much they stole or left as bounty, how many steps they took in the tape, and how many people died before them. Hovering over the tapes will also give this information below as a sentence.

A skull icon shows that they died in the house, meaning the money shown afterwards will be how much they left as a bounty. If there is no skull then the money is how much they robbed.

Tapes highlighted in green have yet to have been watched by you. You can click on any of the tapes and press "Play Tape" to watch it.

These are cleared when you die and start a new life, but not when you alter your house design.


When watching an individual tape you have some more options available to you.

The right side of the screen shows the player's tools. You can hover over these but not actually interact with them.

The "Visibility" option will allow you to toggle between seeing fog of war like the player did, or being able to see everything like in build mode. When visibility is on you can also use movement keys to pan around the house.

The "Step" button advances the tape a single turn. Allowing you to move through the tape at the pace you want.

The "Play" button starts progressing the tape automatically at a steady speed. You can toggle this off again with the "Stop" button, and increase the speed with "Faster". There is no "Slower" button, but pressing "Stop" and then "Play" again will set it back to its original speed.

The "Restart" button restarts the tape from the start, to save having to exit and come back.
